Tamar Tibilashvili, my grandmother's sister, a simple village woman who made me fall in love with drawing when I was a kid and guided my first steps into the world of art. Without her I probably wouldn't be who I am today. Many children have a talent for drawing and painting, but it's like a spark which goes out soon if not sustained. Tamro ignited this spark so strongly that in the end art and eventually graphic design became my life's work.

Today this extraordinary woman is no more, but I haven't lost her, she will always be with me, because she has a special place in my heart and memory. Farewell, Tamro!

Happy Easter!

1 min read
Happy Easter, my Catholic and Orthodox friends! This year we celebrate it together, as it always should be, not just by some random calendar coincidence. Don't be religious types, be true believers, kind, loving, and tolerant. The same goes for my atheist friends – let it be the day of YOUR tolerance towards your friends, brothers and sisters, who happen to be in the other camp. There are no enemies here, the only battle we should wage is against intolerance, darkness and hate, not against each other.

Soft Return

1 min read
Hi folks, long time, no see. :) I've been thinking about my "soft return" to deviantART. Just on a community level, for now. Sadly, I'm still not ready to produce any new art at the moment, but I'm looking forward to it this summer. Meanwhile, I could use some dA love and encouragement. Let me feel it!

Truly yours. :)

In my understanding, art is not always about flowers and bunnies. Sometimes it may deal with provocative, even unpleasant subjects. Oh, and mature content, too. One may think deviantART is exactly the place for such things, but we are constantly reminded that it's actually not. I got another such reminder a couple of weeks ago, when I received the following note:

"Your deviation Homosexual Cock was reported for Explicit Pornography. The report was reviewed by a member of the Staff and action was taken, deleting the deviation and marking the report as Resolved."

I don't think it's a matter of ignorance. I'm pretty sure the staff members have seen actual pornography and can tell the difference. I think it's a matter of fear. Better safe than sorry, that seems to be their motivation here.

Still, I may be wrong. Maybe I just refuse to see the horrible truth about the piece of art in question. What if it's really stepped out of the boundaries of art and slipped somewhere else, not acceptable for a civilized community to see? Please follow the link to the image and let me know your opinions. I'm always open to discussion.

Homosexual Cock

Thanks,
